Measure H Meeting for Oak Manor Neighbors
Neighbor Melissa Ruble is hosting a meeting in her driveway on Friday, April 24th from 4-6 PM, 2 Cynthia Court
Here’s a note from Melissa:
I wanted to reach out about the Measure H vote coming up this June and see if we can help make sure Oak Manor residents are informed, given how directly this could impact our neighborhood with Manor School right here.
From what’s been shared, if Measure H does not pass, Ross Valley School District would need to enter state receivership (meaning the state takes over financial control). In that scenario, the district is expected to close two schools as early as next fall—with Brookside and Hidden Valley the most likely based on location.
For our neighborhood, the implications could be pretty significant:
- Overcrowding at Manor from displaced students
- Likely addition of portable classrooms on the fields, reducing open space that I know a lot of our neighbors utilize in the evenings and weekends
- Substantially increased traffic during drop-off/pick-up and after school
- Possible relocation of 5th grade to White Hill, which is also expected to face cuts (teachers, electives, and administration)
Beyond the immediate impacts, state control typically means deeper budget cuts across the district, including reduced teacher compensation and potential turnover, which can affect overall school quality over time.

Speeding Intervention Update from the office of Supervisor Colbert
Here’s the latest from the Supervisor’s office regarding speeding in Oak Manor. From Sonia Saltzman, District Aide to Brian Colbert:
The speed radar trailer will be back in Oak Manor in May. If there’s a specific location that you’d like it placed, please let me know. I can submit a request to our speed radar team directly.
In addition, there will be a reduced speed zone coming soon. The County applied for funding in 2024 and was allocated funds in 2025. They are currently in the design phase, with construction tentatively scheduled for summer 2026. After reviewing eligible schools along county-maintained roadways, the County assessed crash and speed data to create a final list of proposed 15-mph school zones. District 2 received three reduced school zone areas, with the Oak Manor Elementary area being one of them. I’ll share more details as I receive them.
I understand there are speeding concerns beyond the school zone. While this is a positive step, we continue to explore additional ways to improve traffic safety throughout Oak Manor. Supervisor Colbert is aware of these concerns and has been advocating for safety measures. The immediate priority is implementing the reduced school speed zone.
Another resource I wanted to share is Vision Zero Marin, a new program focused on preventing traffic-related deaths and serious injuries by designing safer streets. Residents, employees, and businesses in Marin are encouraged to share their experiences to help identify safety concerns and shape solutions. You can participate in the map-based survey and learn more here: Vision Zero Marin Survey. The survey is open through mid-April 2026, and input from Oak Manor residents will help guide strategies to make streets safer for everyone.
Thank you all for your communication and care, we really appreciate it! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Sonia Saltzman
